1. FC Köln - also affectionately known as Effzeh by fans - is noticeably different and yet authentic: a club with idiosyncrasies, rough edges and corners, where the billy goat is just as much a part as the Rhenish carnival. The FC draws this authenticity from its history, its values, but especially from its origins and roots in Cologne and the region. That simply suits STAHLWERK. That is why we are looking forward to taking the next steps together with Effzeh. The successful cooperation of the past will not only be continued, but further expanded: True to our motto "STAHLWERK welds together", from the 2022/23 season we will be the exclusive partner of 1. FC Köln and thus one of the biggest sponsors of the Geißböcke. With this, STAHLWERK wants to set an example and underline the development of the reliable partnership.
FC is one of the most respected sports clubs in Germany and can look back on a history rich in tradition. The founding member of the Bundesliga has won three German championships and four DFB cups. Numerous national players were trained by the cathedral city. The football club is regarded as one of the most popular clubs in the league, and home games are regularly sold out. The atmosphere in the stadium is unique and as well-known as it is popular beyond the Rhineland. The FC anthem says "Üvverall jitt et Fans vom FC Kölle" and that is no exaggeration: The club currently has well over 120,000 members, almost half of whom come from Cologne and the surrounding area. There are 909 FC fan clubs in Germany, but fans have also joined forces in Belgium, England, Spain and even in Canada, Costa Rica, Brazil and Nigeria.
FC St. Pauli
FC St. Pauli is getting support from the Rhineland for the 2022/23 season. STAHLWERK supports the likeable team from the north as a so-called "captain" - a business partnership for sponsors. In keeping with the fan friendship between St. Pauli and 1. FC Köln, STAHLWERK is presenting itself as a firm supporter of the Kiez club from Hamburg for the new season. The club, known as "World Cup winners", stands out in particular for its extraordinary fan culture, with the official fan flag resembling a pirate flag. Whether to the entrance music "Hells Bells" by AC/DC or the classic "You'll never walk alone" - the atmosphere in the stadium and the choreographies of the fans are considered unique in Germany and there are also numerous sympathisers beyond the borders.
The club is considered cosmopolitan, idealistic and rebellious. Values such as tolerance, helpfulness and sustainability are not just mere words, but are also lived out at St. Pauli. True to the motto "There is nothing good unless you do it!", the club is committed to many societal and social issues. The regional roots play a major role in this. Anyone who has experienced the atmosphere at home matches understands why the club has over 5 million fans in Germany alone. It is not without irony that the club likes to call itself its "favourite second club". We are pleased to be able to accompany St. Pauli on its way and wish the team every success!
Amateur-Sport
Bonner SC
Bonn is not only known as the former seat of government and birthplace of Beethoven. Sport is also very important in the city of more than 325,000 inhabitants. In addition to basketball, it is above all football that attracts numerous spectators to the stadium every weekend. Bonner SC is probably the city's best-known football club; its founding triggered great euphoria at the time. Since 1965, it has been thrilling people in the city and neighbouring communities. The team, also known as the "Rheinlöwen", fights for sporting success week after week with great passion and a lot of heart. Numerous fans remain loyal to the club. The club colours are blue and red, in keeping with the old Bonn city coat of arms.
Club experienced glorious times in the 70s of the last century. In 1976, the club was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. But the success did not last long - in the following season, the DFB withdrew the club's licence. After turbulent times with many ups and downs, the team currently plays in the Regionalliga West. In addition to several championships at amateur level and staying in the 2nd Bundesliga, the biggest successes include winning the Mittelrhein Cup in 2016, not to mention winning the German Women's Football Championship in 1975. STAHLWERK is supporting the Rheinlöwen as the main sponsor so that they can continue their sporting successes in the future.
