Functions
- MIG/MAG welding (GMAW): Gas metal arc welding with direct current for steel and stainless steel applications. Inactive/inert gases (MIG, e.g. argon) or active gases (MAG, e.g. CO2 or mixed gas 82/18 Ar/CO2) can be used. Gas and welding wire come out of the torch head together, so that even longer fillet welds can be comfortably welded with one hand. Adjustable wire diameters of 0.6 / 0.8 / 1.0 mm allow optimum adaptation to sheet thickness and seam requirements.
- FLUX/flux-cored wire welding (without gas): FLUX welding is based on the MIG/MAG process, but does not require an external shielding gas. Special cored wire (e.g. 0.9 mm) generates its protective atmosphere through the filler core. The CTM-250 ST supports various wire guide rollers (U, V and knurled K profile) to process solid wire, aluminum wire and cored wire with uniform feed - ideal for outdoor applications or locations without a gas cylinder.
- DC TIG welding (TIG): Tungsten inert gas welding with direct current from 20-200 A for high-quality, low-spatter weld seams. Suitable for unalloyed and high-alloy steels, stainless steel, copper, brass and similar materials. With argon 4.6/4.8 as shielding gas and a TIG hosepack with tungsten electrode and filler rod, precise fine and visible seams can be produced. The extended TIG menu provides gas advance, gas follow-up, current increase, current decrease and a pulse function to precisely control the heat input and seam shape.
- MMA/E-hand welding (ARC): Manual electrode welding with 20-180 A for coated stick electrodes. The process is suitable for universal use - from workshop to assembly work - and can also be used in windy conditions or outdoors without any problems. Typical electrode diameters of 1.6 to 5.0 mm can be processed, which means that material thicknesses of around 1 to over 8 mm can be covered. Hotstart facilitates ignition, anti-stick reduces sticking, while VRD lowers the open-circuit voltage in the idle state.
- CUT plasma cutting with 45 A: Plasma cutting with currents of 15-45 A and compressed air (4 bar). The arc melts the material, the compressed air removes the molten pool and creates the cut. Suitable for all conductive metals such as mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass or titanium, with cutting capacities up to approx. 14 mm (depending on material). The contact ignition makes it easy to start: Just touch the workpiece briefly and the contact is maintained for the cut.
- Automatic wire feed: The welding wire is automatically removed from the wire reel and fed through the hosepack to the contact tip via the wire feed unit. The feed speed automatically adjusts to the set welding current, which supports a constant arc and even penetration.
- 2-cycle/4-cycle operation: In MAG and DC TIG operation, you can choose between 2-cycle and 4-cycle. 2-stroke is suitable for short spot welds, 4-stroke relieves the strain on longer seams as the torch trigger does not have to be held down permanently.
- Voltage and arc correction (MIG/FLUX): The device offers an adjustable open voltage (13-28 V) as well as limited voltage and arc width correction from -5 to +5. This allows the penetration, droplet size and arc width to be fine-tuned in order to optimally influence the weld seam and spatter formation.
Features & benefits
- 4-in-1 solution with integrated plasma cutter: One device covers TIG, MIG/MAG, MMA/E manual welding and CUT plasma cutting. This reduces investment costs, space requirements and set-up times, as there is no need to change devices for welding and cutting the same workpieces.
- High power reserves with compact dimensions: With 20-200 A in MIG/MAG and TIG mode, 20-180 A in MMA mode and 15-45 A when cutting, the CTM-250 ST offers sufficient power reserves - even for thicker cross-sections. At the same time, at only approx. 12.9 kg and 480 x 210 x 360 mm, the device remains handy and easy to transport, ideal for mobile applications.
- Solid duty cycle for everyday use: The duty cycle of 15 % at 200 A and 60 % at 100 A (MIG/WIG) as well as 15 % at 45 A in CUT mode allows the maximum power to be used at intervals and continuous work in the medium power range - ideal for repairs, constructions and small series.
- Modern IGBT technology and smart cooling: The integrated IGBT power electronics ensure a stable arc, high energy efficiency and low weight. In combination with the powerful fan and overheating protection, reliable continuous operation is possible; in the event of an overload, the device switches off in good time and automatically releases again after cooling down.
- Safe working thanks to VRD, Hotstart & Anti-Stick: The VRD function lowers the open-circuit voltage in MMA mode as soon as welding is not in progress - a safety benefit when changing or setting down the electrode. Hotstart improves the willingness to ignite, anti-stick reduces sticking and puts less strain on the electrode and device.
- Finely adjustable welding parameters for MIG/MAG & TIG: Voltage and arc width correction allow precise adjustment of the MIG/FLUX arc, e.g. for deeper penetration or softer seam transitions. In TIG mode, gas advance, gas follow, current increase, current decrease and pulse function are available for precise control of heat input and seam appearance - particularly useful for thin sheets and demanding visible seams.
- Ergonomic ST-Guard housing & intuitive control panel: The robust ST-Guard housing reliably protects the electronics and is also ergonomically designed. The clearly laid out control panel with digital display for current and voltage, process selection button, wire diameter selection, gas and mode buttons enables all parameters to be set quickly and logically - even for less experienced users.
- Flexible wire and application: By selecting different wire diameters as well as suitable wire guide rollers (U, V, K), the device can be operated with solid, stainless steel and cored wires. This makes the CTM-250 ST a universal partner for car body work, workshop repairs, steel construction, railings, tanks and many other applications.
- Comprehensive accessories for an immediate start: The scope of delivery includes fully equipped MIG, TIG and CUT torches, gas and air connections, wire guide rolls, contact tips and other accessories. This means that the device can be used immediately after connecting the power, gas and compressed air without having to retrofit additional basic components.
Note: The appliance is not intended for use in residential areas where power is supplied via a public low-voltage supply system. It may be difficult to ensure electromagnetic compatibility in these areas due to both conducted and radiated interference.
Note: not suitable for welding aluminum
